How to buy organic cannabis online

So you’ve decided to take the plunge and see what all this new online cannabis ordering is all about. But where to begin? Is it safe? Legal? Reliable? There’s a lot of questions that need to be answered before you take that first step and we’ll try to answer them all before we’re through here so buckle up and let’s begin. The logical first step would find a site where you can buy organic cannabis online, organic is safe right? Well it’s a little more complicated than that unfortunately. The reality of buying Organic Cannabis online is that it’s a little premature to even be calling anything Organic when it comes to Cannabis products. As of right now there are no regulated federal organizations that can inspect and approve cannabis growers to give them USDA (or Canadian equivalent) organic certification. So how can you be sure it’s even organic let alone safe? Well right off the bat if a site is claiming their cannabis is organic a healthy dose of scepticism is in order. Here at South Coast we don’t label our Cannabis products as organic because we can’t, and until a regulated federal government organization is able to give us that certification we won’t. Honesty is something we value and we’d rather be up front about it than deceive consumers. That being said we have a process we call “Full Profile” growing and we’d like to tell you why it’s better than organic as it produces a safe, healthy and superior product. Here’s how we do it:

The Full Profile Method

From before the first clone is made right up until it arrives at your doorstep our Full Profile method of growing covers every stage of the process and ensures that not only that our product is the best but it’s consistent, healthy and safe too.

Cannabis Strains:

Before you even begin to grow you have to have the right strains with the correct authentic genetic heritage. We travel all over North America to acquire award winning authentic strains to start our mothers. Popular strains such as Bruce Banner, Gorilla Glue #4, and even our own custom Pink Kush strain we call Greasy Pink Bubba.

Experience is key:

You need to have the proper experience to bring these stains to their fullest potential. South Coast is located on the Sunshine Coast BC, an area with a long and storied history growing Cannabis. We have over 50+ years of experience between our growers and a tight knit supportive growing community on the Sunshine Coast that pools their knowledge to further the craft.

Custom Soil mixes:

We don’t buy our soil from a 3rd party or major corporation. We require a level of quality control that we just can’t rely on another company to do it properly. All the soil used in our facilities is made in house so we can control every aspect of it and make sure there are no fungal or pest infestations. We use only local organic material and we add in beneficial bacteria cultures and mycorrhizal fungi to insure an optimal growing medium.

Natural Pest Control

Cannabis is a medicine and good health is paramount when it comes to the Full Profile method. That’s why we use no Pesticides, Fungicides, or herbicides. In this day and age they just aren’t necessary, especially in an indoor facility such as ours. Our Mother plants are given predatory mites to insure there are no spider mite or thrip infestations. All the air going in our ventilation systems is filtered and sterilized with UV light, preventing airborne pests and harmful fungal/mold spores from getting in. The soil mixes are pre colonized with beneficial bacteria and fungus preventing any harmful variants from getting a foothold.

Top of the line grow lights

To get cannabis to grow to its fullest potential you have to give it the conditions that it evolved to grow in. Natural sunlight isn’t possible indoors but you can use the next best thing, Full Spectrum lighting. We use Gavita Plasma Lights that provide the full spectrum light with both UVA and UVB light to give Cannabis plants all the energy they need to grow and the UV light helps sterilize the area from fungal infections as well.

Customized Nutrient Formulas

Plants need food and they need different food at different stages of the growth cycle. We have created our own proprietary nutrient formulas that we have perfected over the last 3 decades to insure the perfect amounts of food are readily available to our plants exactly when they need it. It’s so key to our growing process that it’s one of our closely guarded secrets.

Proper maturity with full growth cycles

With indoor growing you control the light and light is the one of the main ways a plant knows what season it is. When you shorten the hours of light you give a cannabis plant you give it a signal to start the flowering process. With this you can artificially shorten the vegetative stage and trigger the bud growth early. For a lot of big commercial growers this is a good idea as it lets you get another crop or two in over the year. Unfortunately it produces an inferior product, smaller buds with lower concentrations of Cannabinoids such as THC. Our goal is to have the absolute best cannabis out there so naturally we opt for a full growth cycle, making sure our plants reach their full maturity before the flowering stage. It makes a difference and it’s just one of many reasons we get such positive reviews on our products.

A Full Flush

Two weeks prior to the harvest we begin the flushing process. Feeding stops and the plants are given pure water for this time. As the flowers are near maturity they don’t need any more food the flushing leeches the nitrogen out of the leaves and the plant concentrates the remaining nutrients in the flowers. At this stage the plants are put into an end of life stage, the flowers produce extra resin in a last attempt to catch pollen from the air. This final maturing process increases Cannabinoid and Terpene production with the added bonus of lowering carbon and unused nutrients in the flowers. Creating a final product that burns clean with a smooth white smoke.

Last but definitely not least is the curing process

After the harvest and the hand trim Cannabis has to be cured. This is one of the most important parts of the Full Profile growing process as this can make or break your product. Too dry and too quick and you will stop the biosynthesis processes that increase cannabinoid production, Terpenes will evaporate, and sugars will remain unprocessed. These sugars left in the flowers are what gives the bud that harsh throat burning sensation. Too long and too moist and you will get mold and anaerobic bacteria eating your buds, producing ammonia and other compounds that are unhealthy.
Knowing all that and what to avoid we have perfected our drying and curing process. Post trim our flowers are given a long hang dry in a climate controlled sealed room. Filtered and sterilized air is slowly pushed through the room with the humidity and temperature set just right. After the dry the buds are removed from the branches and set to cure. We have spent decades fine tuning and perfecting this process and it’s such an important step that the exact settings are closely guarded secret.

Is our Full Profile method as healthy as organic?

With every aspect of our growing process exquisitely controlled it is as safe and as healthy as any organic product if not better. Without any herbicide, fungicide and pesticides you can be sure that when you use our product it’s safe and healthy. Our natural methods of pest controls are both sustainable and environmentally friendly. Nothing goes into our plants that we wouldn’t want put into our own bodies and with a proper flush nothing is left in the plants flowers that doesn’t need to be there. Cannabis is a medicine and health is important to us personally as well for the continued growth and sustainability of our company as a whole.

Why Full Profile growing produces stronger Cannabis than Organic

Controlling what nutrients and how much of them are readily available to the plant at the proper stages of growth is key to maximizing Cannabinoid production. This is something that the purist organic method just can’t compete with. Organic fertilizers don’t have the same level of precision control of nutrient availability our custom nutrient formula has. With organic sources such as bone meal or manure, the nutrients are locked up in compounds that are not readily available for plant uptake. Instead they rely on microbes to break these compounds down to a state that’s ready for uptake. Relying on microbes to do this naturally as organic fertilizers do releases the nutrients inconsistently, sometimes producing a great product but sometimes not. Our in depth knowledge of the process along with our proprietary nutrient formula removes the guesswork and insures the best possible outcome on a consistent basis.

So with all that should you buy organic cannabis online?

Right now, for where the industry is at that’s a gamble. Given the state of certification and legal status it’s pretty deceitful to label your product as certified organic with nothing to back you up that’s regulated. If growers are using that label they very well may be following the right practices to earn that label but do your research before you consider buying organic cannabis online. In this industry coming out of the shadow of the black market, transparency is new but it’s the right way forward and we want to be as clear and as honest as possible. Trust is a valuable commodity one we don’t intend to squander.
